Logoysk, also spelled Lahoysk, lies in the Minsk Region, in some of the most rolling country in central Belarus. The town is built around a small river valley. From above, its streets curve with the ground instead of forming a grid, and ponds, low slopes and stretches of forest surround the built-up area on several sides.
The town is old and was for a long time connected to the Tyszkiewicz noble family. Today many people know the name from the ski slopes nearby, which are unusual in a mostly flat country. That hilly terrain shows up on the map: roads bend, the contours feel close together, and the town fills its valley instead of spreading out evenly.
