Lyndhurst is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, a few miles west of Manhattan. Its map splits in two. The western part is a dense grid of residential streets running up from the Passaic River, which forms the township's western boundary. The eastern part is largely made up of the Meadowlands, a wide area of tidal marsh, creeks and wetland.
Where the two meet, commercial and industrial land lies alongside highways and rail lines. NJ Transit trains stop at stations within the township, connecting it to Hoboken and New York. In the Meadowlands, parks and nature reserves protect areas of marsh, and on a clear day the Manhattan skyline is visible across the reeds.

Meadowlands marsh
