Majadahonda lies about fifteen kilometres northwest of central Madrid, and from above it reads as a suburb that grew from a small village. The older core has a compact, irregular layout, and around it spread estates of apartment blocks and detached houses with gardens. The streets curve and branch into cul-de-sacs.
The town is well connected. The A-6 motorway toward northwest Spain runs along one side, and the M-50 ring road loops around the metropolitan area nearby. The large Puerta de Hierro university hospital is on the town's edge and shows on a map as a distinct complex surrounded by open space.
A Majadahonda map poster also shows the green areas that give the town its character. The Monte del Pilar woodland to the east separates it from neighbouring municipalities. Parks and sports grounds are scattered through the residential areas, so the city looks lighter and more open than central Madrid.

A large woodland on the eastern side separates Majadahonda from its neighbours. It gives the poster a broad, calm green margin.
