Mehlville is an unincorporated community in south St. Louis County, Missouri, a few miles south of the city of St. Louis. It lies west of the Mississippi River. On a map, it is a typical postwar American suburb, with winding residential streets, cul-de-sacs and shopping centres grouped along a few major roads.
Interstate 55 and older arterial roads run through the area. These roads give the map its main structure. Between them, subdivisions are filled with curving streets that rarely line up with each other. Creeks and wooded strips thread between the neighbourhoods on their way east toward the river.
