Mielec sits on the Wisłoka River in southeastern Poland, in the Subcarpathian region. From above, the river runs past the town's western side, while the streets form a mix of older blocks around the historic centre and more spacious postwar neighbourhoods further out.
The town is closely associated with aviation. Its aircraft factory, long known as PZL Mielec, has built planes since the late 1930s and today produces helicopters, including the Black Hawk. Next to it, the airfield and the Euro-Park Mielec special economic zone form one of the largest distinct areas on the map.

Airfield and runway
The long, straight runway next to the aircraft factory is one of the most recognisable features of Mielec from above, a clean line cutting through the eastern part of the map.

The large Euro-Park Mielec economic zone surrounds the factory, with broad plots and straight access roads that contrast with the smaller blocks of the town.
