Narón borders Ferrol in northwestern Galicia and shares its ria, the long sheltered inlet that has made this corner of the coast a naval and shipbuilding centre. Its map is typically Galician. There is no single dense old town. Instead, the built areas string along main roads, with villages and farm lanes scattered across green hills.
The more urban part lies next to Ferrol, where blocks of flats and commercial streets run seamlessly from one municipality into the other.
