Neerpelt Map Poster & Print
Neerpelt lies in the Belgian province of Limburg, in the sandy Kempen region, close to the border with the Netherlands. In 2019 it merged with neighbouring Overpelt to form the municipality of Pelt, but the name still marks a clear place on the map. Its centre sits in a landscape of conifer plantations, heathland and scattered hamlets.
Two waterways shape the map. The Bocholt–Herentals canal cuts across the area in a long, disciplined straight line. The river Dommel takes a very different path, winding north towards the Netherlands. Between these two lines sit the town's streets, a compact centre with residential areas spreading along the approach roads.
The town is best known for the European Music Festival for Young People, which has brought youth choirs and ensembles to Neerpelt for decades. Dommel meanders
The small river Dommel winds northward towards the Dutch border. Its loose curves add a natural counterpoint to the canal's engineered precision.
