Partinico is in the province of Palermo, on a plain that slopes down toward the Gulf of Castellammare. Mountains rise behind the town and vineyards and olive groves spread out in front. The area has long been known for its wine and farm produce.
The town is also known for Danilo Dolci, the social activist who worked here in the 1950s and 1960s, campaigning with local people for work, water and non-violent reform.
