Pastos Bons is a municipality in the interior of Maranhão, in north-eastern Brazil. Its name means good pastures, a nod to the grazing land that shaped settlement in this part of the state. The map reflects that rural character: a modest urban core surrounded by large, sparsely marked areas of cerrado and farmland.
The town itself appears as a small grid of blocks, laid out with the regular rectangles common to many towns in the Brazilian interior.
