Patdi is a town in the Surendranagar district of Gujarat, close to the southern edge of the Little Rann of Kutch. It was once the seat of a small princely state, and its older quarter still shows a compact, irregular pattern of lanes. From there, the town spreads out into newer streets before the land flattens into open ground.
The Little Rann is a vast seasonal salt marsh, and around Patdi much of it is used for salt farming, with rectangular pans stretching across the flats. The area is also known for the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary, which protects one of the last populations of the Indian wild ass.
