Pātūr lies in the Akola district of Maharashtra, in the farming plains of western Vidarbha where cotton and soybean fields stretch in every direction. The town sits on the road between Akola and Washim. On a map that route forms a clear spine, with the older part of town gathered close to it and newer building strung along the main approaches.
Beyond the built-up area the land opens into broad fields cut by seasonal streams and farm tracks, and the ground becomes less even toward Washim to the south.
