Pazarcık lies in Kahramanmaraş province in southeastern Turkey, on the main route between Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep. From above, the town has a compact centre where roads converge, with residential streets spreading across gently sloping ground. Beyond it, the map opens into farmland, orchards and the small villages of the surrounding district.
The district is known worldwide as the area around the epicentre of the earthquake of 6 February 2023, which caused great loss of life across southern Turkey and northern Syria. The town has been rebuilding since, and its map is changing as new housing areas take shape alongside the older streets.
