Pérama lies on the western edge of the Piraeus area, on the narrow strait facing the island of Salamina. On a map it forms a dense strip between the sea and the hills behind. Streets of apartment buildings rise steeply from the waterfront and stop abruptly where the rocky slopes become too steep to build on.
Ship repair yards, docks and slipways dominate the shoreline and appear as large, angular shapes projecting into the water.
