Playa del Ingles lies on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. It grew from the 1960s onward as one of the island's first large tourist developments, and the map shows it: a planned layout of broad avenues, curving access roads and large blocks of hotels and apartments set out across gently sloping ground above the sea.
The most striking feature on the map is the coastline. A long, straight beach runs along the southern edge of the resort, and at its western end the built-up area stops and the Maspalomas dunes begin, a protected expanse of sand stretching toward the lighthouse at Maspalomas. On the page, the dense grid meets an almost empty field.

A long beach and seafront path follow the southern edge of the resort, forming a clean horizontal line between the streets and the Atlantic.
