Ponders End, in the London Borough of Enfield, is structured by a strong east-west contrast. To the west, terraced streets and residential blocks line up close to the Hertford Road. To the east, the land drops into the Lee Valley, where the Lee Navigation, the River Lea and large reservoirs replace housing with water.
