Pūvātūparamba lies in Kozhikode district in northern Kerala, a short distance inland from the city of Kozhikode. Like much of the Malabar region, it does not have the compact centre of a traditional town. Houses spread along roads and lanes among coconut palms and garden plots, and the settlement flows almost continuously into its neighbours.
From above, the map shows a web of curving roads that follow the gentle rise and fall of the land. Small streams, ponds and patches of paddy fields appear in the lower ground, while houses line the higher paths.
