Quipapá is a municipality in the south of Pernambuco, in the region known as the Zona da Mata, where the Atlantic Forest once stood and sugarcane has been farmed for centuries. The town sits on uneven ground, and its streets follow the lie of the land, bending around slopes rather than keeping to a strict grid.
