Rāvar lies in the dry uplands of Kerman province in southeastern Iran, north of the provincial capital. The landscape around it is arid and wide open, with mountain ridges on the horizon and settlements that gather tightly wherever water and roads allow. The town is known well beyond Iran through its carpets.
