Revelganj is a town in the Saran district of Bihar, lying on the northern bank of the Ghaghara River, also known here as the Saryu, not far from its confluence with the Ganges. On a map the river dominates the southern edge, its broad channel and sandbars shaping the line of the town.
The settlement stretches along the bank, with streets running parallel to the water and lanes reaching down toward the ghats. Behind it the land opens into the flat, fertile plain of north Bihar, crossed by village roads and dotted with small settlements between the fields.
