San Simon is a municipality in Pampanga, in the Central Luzon plain, a short distance southeast of the provincial capital San Fernando. The land here is very flat and close to sea level, and on a map it appears as a mosaic of rice fields, fishponds and waterways surrounding a modest town centre.
The town is crossed by the North Luzon Expressway, whose long, straight line cuts through the fields and gives the map a strong diagonal. Along it, and along local roads, industrial estates and new housing have appeared, while the older settlement keeps its church and plaza at the centre.
