Santa Eulària des Riu lies on the east coast of Ibiza, and its town and municipality take their name from the river that reaches the sea here, often described as the only river in the Balearic Islands. From above, the town stretches along the shore in a band of streets, with a seafront promenade on one side and farmland rising toward the island's interior on the other.
The town's landmark is the Puig de Missa, a small hill just inland crowned by a white fortified church that once served as a refuge from pirate raids. The river
The riu that gives the town its name crosses the land toward the sea. It is often described as the only river in the Balearic Islands, and it adds a soft curve to the map.
