Schneverdingen lies in the heart of the Lüneburg Heath, between Hamburg and Bremen. The town is compact, with a small historic core and residential streets spreading gently outward. Just outside the town, the Höpen heath stretches over open, rolling ground, and it turns purple in late summer when the heather blooms.
