Scottsdale runs north to south for many miles alongside Phoenix. It is a narrow city shaped by the regular mile-square grid of arterial roads common across the Salt River Valley. Mile grid
Major roads are spaced a regular mile apart, dividing Scottsdale into large squares. Curving neighbourhood streets, golf fairways and resort landscapes fill each one.
