Setia Tropika is a planned residential township in Johor, Malaysia, within the wider Johor Bahru area near the southern tip of the peninsula. Unlike older towns, its map was designed as a whole: curved residential streets, cul-de-sacs and landscaped spaces arranged in precincts, bounded by wider roads and highways.
The township was developed as a series of neighbourhoods with houses, shops and schools, and a commercial area along its main roads. Around it, other new townships, older villages and patches of greenery make up the fast-growing landscape of southern Johor, not far from the causeway to Singapore.
A Setia Tropika map poster shows a very different kind of street pattern from a historic city: flowing loops and dead-end lanes, green spaces set between them and major roads drawn as firm edges. In a minimalist style, the planned geometry reads almost like an architectural drawing.

Cul-de-sacs
Many short dead-end streets branch off the loops, keeping traffic out of the housing areas. They add small, finger-like shapes throughout the design.
Main road edges
Wider roads and highways surround and cross the township, dividing it into precincts. On the poster they act as strong borders around the finer residential streets.
