Sherman is the seat of Grayson County in North Texas, about an hour north of Dallas and a short drive south of the Red River and Lake Texoma. The town grew around a courthouse square, and the downtown grid still extends from it in tidy blocks. Newer subdivisions and commercial strips reach outward along the main highways.
US 75 runs north–south along the city, linking it to Dallas and to Oklahoma, and it shapes much of Sherman's recent growth.
