Soroti is a town in eastern Uganda, in the Teso sub-region. Its most distinctive landmark is Soroti Rock, a large granite outcrop that rises from the middle of the town and gives wide views over the surrounding plain. On a map, the streets wrap around it, and it forms a natural centre point for the whole layout.
The town is also known as the home of the East African Civil Aviation Academy, often called the Soroti Flying School, whose airfield sits on the edge of town. The land around is flat and agricultural, and Lake Kyoga, with its shallow waters and papyrus wetlands, lies to the west.
