Southlake is a suburban city in northeast Tarrant County, Texas, in the middle of the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Grapevine Lake lies along its northern side, and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is a short distance to the southeast. State Highway 114 crosses the city diagonally, a strong, confident stroke through the middle of the map.
Much of Southlake was built from the 1980s onward on former farms and ranches, and the layout is generous. It has large lots, long curving streets and quiet cul-de-sacs, with pockets of woodland and ponds between neighbourhoods. Southlake Town Square, a planned mixed-use centre, gives the city a compact, gridded heart.
