Stockelsdorf lies in Schleswig-Holstein, directly adjoining the city of Lübeck to the northwest. The map shows a place in transition between city and countryside. Suburban streets and residential districts sit close to the Lübeck boundary. The town has a notable place in German decorative arts. In the eighteenth century, the Stockelsdorf faience manufactory produced glazed earthenware that is now held in museum collections. The manor house, the Herrenhaus Stockelsdorf, dates from the same era of the estate's history. It remains one of the town's most notable buildings.

Faience heritage
Stockelsdorf gave its name to an eighteenth-century faience manufactory. Its glazed earthenware is valued by collectors today and held in museum collections.
