Stouffville is the main community of Whitchurch-Stouffville, in York Region north-east of Toronto. It began as a mill village and farming centre, and its historic Main Street still runs through the middle of town. A GO Transit rail line connects it to downtown Toronto, and the line that ends here carries the town's name.
The map shows the older centre strung along Main Street, with the rail line cutting through and short streets branching off. Around this core, newer subdivisions have grown quickly, with curving streets, crescents and cul-de-sacs typical of Ontario suburbs. To the north, the land rises toward the Oak Ridges Moraine, with its hills, woodlands and small kettle lakes.
