Sun City Center was established in the early 1960s by developer Del Webb as one of the first large age-restricted communities in the United States. It lies in southern Hillsborough County, not far from Tampa Bay, and its map reflects its planned origins: looping residential streets, cul-de-sacs, and neighbourhoods arranged around golf courses rather than a traditional town centre.
From above, fairways appear as long, soft-edged open spaces winding between houses, and stormwater ponds dot the landscape in rounded shapes. Main roads are few and broad, with quieter streets branching from them.
