Sunan is a district on the northern side of Pyongyang, North Korea, lying beyond the dense city centre. On a map its most recognisable feature is Pyongyang Sunan International Airport, whose long runway and apron form a sharp, straight shape amid surrounding fields and settlements.
The district combines built-up areas, farmland and roads leading out towards the capital, and the Taedong River basin shapes the lowlands of the wider area. Main roads link Sunan to central Pyongyang, with the city's more formal street layout beginning to the south.
