Tando Adam lies in the Sanghar district of Sindh, on the level plain east of the Indus. The land here is almost perfectly flat, and it is the irrigation canals, not hills or coastlines, that give the landscape its structure. Channels and distributaries run in long, straight lines across the countryside, dividing it into a grid of fields.
The town itself is a compact cluster of streets at the meeting point of roads and a railway line. Its older core has narrow, irregular lanes typical of Sindhi market towns, while newer areas extend outward in more regular blocks.
