Tangba is a town in the western part of Chongqing Municipality, among the rolling hills of the eastern Sichuan Basin. The land here is a patchwork of low ridges and valleys, unlike the steep, stacked streets of central Chongqing. The map shows a compact town centre surrounded by roads that follow the folds of the ground.
This part of the basin has been farmed intensively for centuries. Fields are shaped to the slopes, and small ponds and reservoirs are scattered across the countryside. Towns such as Tangba act as local centres for markets, schools and services, and their roads link outward to villages and to larger district towns nearby.
