Tàrrega is the capital of the Urgell comarca in the province of Lleida, set on the wide, level plain of inland Catalonia. On the map, the old town is a dense, irregular core of narrow streets near the course of the Ondara, a modest river that often runs almost dry. Wider avenues and newer blocks surround the centre.
Beyond the town, the land is very flat and systematically divided. The plain is irrigated by the Urgell canal system, and from above it breaks into regular fields and straight tracks. That gives the poster a strong contrast between the crowded medieval streets and the geometric farmland around them. A small hill beside the town adds a rounded shape on one side.
