Torre-Pacheco lies in the Campo de Cartagena, the wide, flat plain in the southeast of the Region of Murcia. On a map the town centre is a compact cluster of streets, and the municipality around it is a large grid of farm plots, rural roads and scattered hamlets. The Mar Menor lagoon lies a short distance to the east.
Agriculture shapes the area. Intensive vegetable growing covers much of the plain, and from above it looks like a dense patchwork of rectangles in slightly different orientations. The municipality also includes several separate villages and some golf and residential developments, each a small cluster of its own away from the main town.
