Uruburetama lies in the Serra de Uruburetama, a range of hills rising from the semi-arid interior of Ceará, northwest of Fortaleza. The altitude brings more rain than the surrounding sertão, and the slopes are greener and more intensively farmed. From above, the town does not follow a strict grid; its streets bend to fit the valleys and ridges.
That terrain is what makes the map interesting. Roads climb and switch back, the town centre gathers where the ground allows, and small streams run through the gaps between neighbourhoods. Away from the centre the lines thin into winding rural routes that link farms and hamlets across the hills.
