Xiangshui is a town in eastern Chongqing, in the mountainous country of the upper Yangtze region. Very little land here is flat, and that affects every part of the map. Streets follow valley floors and hillsides, buildings stand close together where the ground allows, and the built-up area takes the narrow shape of the terrain.
From above, the town appears as a band of streets curving along the landscape, not as a square block. Roads climb in bends and switchbacks, and the edges of the settlement stop where slopes become too steep. Farmland and forest fill the surrounding hills and break the drawing into patches of open space.
