Yakınca lies on the western side of the city of Malatya, in eastern Turkey. On the map, it is a transitional place, where the more regular streets of the urban area give way to looser patterns, open land and cultivated plots on the edge of the Malatya plain.
The settlement is made up of residential streets and blocks with main roads connecting it to central Malatya. Around it, the landscape opens out into agricultural land, and to the south the ground rises toward mountains, adding contrast to the map between built-up areas and emptier terrain.
