Haskovo Map Poster & Print
Haskovo lies in southern Bulgaria, where the Upper Thracian Plain begins to rise towards the foothills of the Eastern Rhodopes. From above, the centre is a compact web of streets with a central square and pedestrian area. Around it, residential districts of apartment blocks and houses spread outward. Wooded hills rise along the southern and western edges of the city.
On Yamacha hill above the city stands a large statue of the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus, which has been recognised as one of the tallest of its kind. Haskovo is also home to the Eski Mosque, dating from the late fourteenth century and among the oldest in Bulgaria.
