Aldoar Map Poster & Print
Aldoar is on the western side of Porto, close to the Atlantic, and since 2013 it has belonged to the combined parish of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde. Historically it was a rural area on the city's edge. Over the twentieth century, it filled with housing and became one of Porto's residential districts near the ocean.
Its best-known neighbour is the Parque da Cidade, the largest urban park in Portugal, which stretches down to the sea. On the map, the park's lakes, meadows and paths make a broad open area next to Aldoar's streets. The Estrada da Circunvalação, the old ring road that marks the boundary with Matosinhos, runs along the north.

This historic ring road runs along the northern edge of the area, separating Porto from Matosinhos. On the map it makes a firm, sweeping boundary.
