Amīnpur is a town in Sangareddy district of Telangana, on the north-western fringe of the Hyderabad metropolitan area near Patancheru and Miyapur. Once a small village, it has grown rapidly into a residential suburb, and the map reflects that change: new layouts of gated communities and apartment blocks sit beside older village lanes and open plots still waiting to be built.
The defining feature of the area is Amīnpur Lake, a large water body that attracts many species of birds. In 2016 it became the first water body in India to be declared a Biodiversity Heritage Site. The lake gives the town a strong, irregular centrepiece, with housing developments pressing up against its banks and rocky Deccan terrain visible in the wider landscape.
