Asprópyrgos lies in West Attica, on the Thriasian plain between Athens and Elefsina. Its name means white tower. On a map the residential town is fairly compact, with a grid of streets and small squares. It is surrounded by a much larger area of industrial plants, warehouses and logistics centres that stretch across the plain toward the coast.
The area is one of the industrial centres of Greece. A major oil refinery sits nearby, and its round storage tanks make distinctive circles on a detailed map. Highways and rail lines cross the plain, connecting Athens with the Peloponnese and western Greece. To the north, the land rises toward Mount Parnitha, and the roads begin to wind.
