Bukit Jalil lies in the south of Kuala Lumpur, and its map is shaped by one large event. The National Sports Complex was built here for the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and its stadium, arenas and surrounding grounds still occupy a wide area at the heart of the district, drawn on a map as a cluster of large oval and rectangular forms.
Around the sports complex, the district has filled in with residential towers, condominiums and a newer shopping centre, connected by an LRT line and several expressways.
