Sea on three sides
The town occupies the tip of the peninsula, with the North Sea, the Marsdiep and the Wadden Sea wrapping around it. Few Dutch towns have such a clear, almost diagrammatic outline.

Den Helder Map Poster & Print
Den Helder sits at the very end of the North Holland peninsula, so on a map it has water on three sides. The North Sea runs along the west, the Marsdiep channel lies to the north, and the Wadden Sea opens to the east. The town fills the narrowing point of land between them, held in place by a long line of sea dikes.
The street plan shows how the town grew. Harbour basins and quays gather along the northern and eastern edges, while the residential blocks further south are set out in fairly regular rows. For generations Den Helder has been the main base of the Royal Netherlands Navy, and much of its waterfront is shaped by that role, from the old dockyard at Willemsoord to the working naval harbour.
A Den Helder map poster reduces all of this to line and space. The dikes become firm edges, the harbour basins read as crisp geometric cutouts, and the ferry route toward Texel gives a sense of the channel beyond. The result is a quiet portrait of a place that has always been defined by where the land stops.

Naval harbour basins
Long quays and rectangular basins along the waterfront reflect Den Helder's role as the country's main naval base, giving the northern edge of the map a distinctly engineered, orderly character.
Ferry to Texel
The short crossing over the Marsdiep links the town to the island of Texel. On the map, the ferry harbour marks the point where the mainland reaches out toward the Wadden islands.

People who served at the naval base, grew up behind the dikes or took the ferry to Texel every summer often want something that holds that sense of place. A map of Den Helder is spare and graphic, which suits a hallway, study or a room with a view of the water.
You can change the title, add a subtitle such as a year or a ship's name, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint in particular suits a town built around harbour engineering.
