Funza lies on the Sabana de Bogotá, the high, flat plateau west of the Colombian capital. The terrain is almost perfectly level, so the map is shaped by roads, field boundaries and waterways rather than hills. The town centre is compact, with a regular grid of blocks around the main square.
Around the centre, newer residential areas and industrial parks spread outward along the main roads toward Bogotá and the neighbouring towns of Mosquera and Madrid. The flat land between them is divided into fields and large greenhouse complexes, part of the savanna's well-known flower-growing industry. Their long rectangular roofs form repeating patterns across the plain.
