Grapevine sits between Dallas and Fort Worth, and from above it is one of the more unusual cities in the Metroplex. Much of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport lies inside its limits, so long parallel runways and terminal loops fill a large part of the southern map. To the north, the irregular shoreline of Grapevine Lake cuts deep coves into the land.
Between those two large shapes is the older town. Its Main Street historic district keeps a traditional grid of brick storefronts, and the Grapevine Vintage Railroad runs heritage trains from a depot close by. The city has put wine at the centre of its identity, with tasting rooms along Main Street and a well-known autumn wine festival that fits the name it has carried since the nineteenth century.
