Gryfino Map Poster & Print
Gryfino stands on the east bank of the lower Oder, south of Szczecin and close to the German border. Here the river splits into two main channels with a wide area of wetland and islands between them, and the map shows this clearly: a broad, complex band of water and marsh along one side of the town, crossed by a road bridge.
The town centre sits on higher ground beside the river, with a compact street pattern around the medieval parish church and parts of the old town walls. Newer housing estates spread out to the east, and a large power station stands to the north, its cooling-water channels adding straight lines to the riverside landscape.
Gryfino is known beyond Poland for the Crooked Forest, a stand of pine trees with sharply curved trunks at Nowe Czarnowo, just south of the town. A Gryfino map poster places the town in its setting between the Oder floodplain and the forests to the east.
