Itapaci is a municipality in the central part of Goiás, in Brazil's Center-West. The region lies on the high plateaus of the cerrado, the vast savanna that covers much of the interior of the country, and today much of the land around the town is given over to crops and cattle ranching.
From above, the town follows the orderly layout common to many towns in the interior of Goiás: a fairly regular pattern of blocks around a central area, with the edges giving way quickly to open land. Roads leave town in long straight lines, linking it with neighbouring municipalities and the wider highway network of the state.
