Jalalpore lies in Navsari district in southern Gujarat, on the south bank of the Purna River. The larger town of Navsari sits across the water. On a map, the river is the main feature. It curves between the two towns and bridges link them. Jalalpore's older lanes are packed close to the riverbank, and newer streets spread further south.
The surrounding taluka reaches west to the coast of the Arabian Sea, and it includes Dandi. That's where Mahatma Gandhi ended the Salt March in 1930 by making salt on the shore.
