Jasdan is in the Rajkot district of Gujarat, in the Saurashtra peninsula, northeast of Rajkot. From above, the old town is a tightly packed network of narrow lanes, and newer roads and neighbourhoods spread out around it. Beyond them lies open, semi-arid farmland broken by seasonal streams and small reservoirs.
Before Indian independence, Jasdan was the seat of a princely state, and traces of that past remain in the layout of the old town. Today it serves as a market centre for the surrounding villages, with roads connecting it to Rajkot and other towns in Saurashtra.
